Production and Scheduling

Our system is designed to free the publishing departments from constantly making requests to the accounts department. We have put together a number of routines to help empower the publishing departments to getting the information they want and when they want it, without contacting the accounts department. For example, authorised personnel can easily calculate the budgeted unit cost and production cost for any title and can also produce stock listing to match your specific requirement.

Useful features available

o The department will be responsible for creating new stock titles in the system; this will enable the capturing, scheduling and monitoring of all the production stages.

o You can monitor all the production stages from the author to reader. The system allows for the 'text' aspect of the production to be scheduled and monitored, separately from the 'Cover' design, thereby allowing the marketing department to start planning their catalogue production separately from the production department.

o You can hold 4 cover Images, the author blurb, book blurb, content blurb and the review blurb regarding each book. This can be exported to Microsoft word or HTML (web page) to be used in a catalogue.

o Budgeted unit cost, total production costs, and breakeven stock quantity can be calculated and stored within the system for future reference.

o Multiple estimates per proposal - During the production of a book, unlimited number of unit costs and overall production cost can be calculated, reflecting the number of times the parameters regarding a title changed. Change in page extent, print run, type of paper, size or binding might affect the overall production cost and can be capture uniquely. Where more than one unit cost exist for a title, only one can be declared active.

o Maintains the costing history of each proposal.

o The actual unit cost can be viewed and all the cost relating to a stock title can be viewed via the job costing.

o The Profit and Loss per title or series or stock group can be printed. This provides the contribution of each title to your overall turnover and accesses the profitability of each title.

o Before reprinting of a title, the performance of a title and its activities can be easily viewed without making request to the accounts department, since all the relevant information is accessible from the stock ledger windows.

o Empowering all authorised personnel with the ability to drill the profitability of the company down to the title level.

o Calculates the Total Production Cost for each estimate.

o Auto-selection of cheapest printing cost using the Vendor scale.

o Flexible Schedule Types and saving of Schedule as Template

o Auto-Checks for clashes in task duration periods for each personnel.

o Unlimited Comment Lines for each Stock.

o Provides reports such as Proposal Schedule, Freelance Schedule, Product Profile - a one-page decision-making report showing a detailed information regarding how profitable a book will be applying the current parameters (i.e. book extent, size, print run, colour, paper type, binding type, review/gratis %, Trade discount). The Product Profile allows to you to view all relevant information which will allow you/committee to make all the important decision to approve the production of a title.
